Scholarly research with managerial relevance and which influences management practice;

A flexible, integrated and relevant MBA structure

Accreditation :

The Strathclyde MBA is based on collaborative learning where work experience, knowledge, understanding and applicable skills are shared, worked with and reflected on.

A constantly changing environment means that executives need to continually develop to remain effective and to add value to their organisations. Our MBA programme provides such a learning experience.

The full-time programme runs for 12 months. It is a highly intensive and challenging programme giving individuals a truly international experience.

While the Strathclyde MBA draws on a number of specialist areas, we do not aim to train specialists. Rather, the purpose is to enable you to develop as excellent generalists, who know what they need to know of diverse areas of management and who have the ability to integrate such knowledge.

The MBA seeks to help you develop ways of grappling with opportunities and problems in the practice of management through developing as reflective, open-thinking, adaptive learners. This will be facilitated through enhanced understanding of the interplay of theory and practice in management.

The structure and content of the MBA reflect these aims
The MBA programme comprises five core modules.

The Business Information Service (BIS) is a specialist service aimed at providing you with all the business information you may need as you progress through the programme.

BIS is an integral part of our offering. All materials held - core text books, journals, past projects and exam paper, videos and company reports - can all be identified using the BIS catalogue which is accessible from every PC in the School, and via our on-line Intranet service.

BIS has a portfolio of electronic databases, many of which are also available on-line through the USGBS Intranet - Amadeus, Dow Jones and Fame to name but a few. These databases provide the full text of journal articles and information on companies, and a 'real time' Reuters terminal is also available, extending the provision of company news and financial data.

Our Intranet service is an invaluable tool for all of our course members and alumni, and adds value to your overall learning experience.

You can access tailored information on your course subjects, tutors, lectures, examinations, electives and projects, as well as being provided with information support and advice from the BIS.

It provides you with up to date careers information and a diary of events, such as visiting guest speakers, or social outings. Bulletin boards in the form of a one-stop chat room, allow you to keep in touch with other course members, and e-mail lets you contact your tutors. Therefore, no matter where you are based, it is easy to keep in touch.
