Degrees and diplomas

Following secondary (or high school) education, university education includes undergraduate and postgraduate (master's, doctorate) cycles.
A master's degree requires at least 540 hours of course work and 160 hours of directed field work or research, plus a thesis.
To obtain a doctorate, it is necessary to hold the title of "licenciado," take the required courses and seminars, and present a doctoral thesis.
National universities set the number of foreign non-residents admitted each year. Once graduated, however, these foreign students are not allowed to exercise their scientific or professional activities in Argentina.
