Admissions requirements

There are no particular requirements concerning admission of foreign students. In all cases, students must present a secondary education diploma which is equivalent to the baccalaureate and have a sufficient level of the German language in order to be able to follow the courses.

If your secondary education diploma is not equivalent to the Austrian one, the university will ask you to take an exam in order to verify your level. Depending on the universities, they may ask for one of your professors at your home university to present a letter confirming your level of German. In other cases, you will have to take a German language exam, oral and written, (Hochschulsprachprüfung in Deutsch). If you do not satisfy the examiners in either writing or oral skills, you will be obliged to register in a German language course.

For art disciplines, an aptitude test may also be required.
