Finding scholarships

The federal state offers grants to foreign students that are valid for up to 9 months. One can get a grant for a short period of 1 to 3 months generally between January and June, and for stays of 1 month for summer courses in June, August or September. These grants are only for students registered at a public university or at a Fachhochschule (on the condition of having been admitted to study in the establishment). It is possible to apply for a grant from the Ministry of Education for studies in the higher education art and music schools on the condition that one has passed the entrance examination. The students must have already studied for at least 4 semesters before being able to apply for a grant and be between the ages of 20 and 35. A good knowledge of the German language is required as well as a copy of the certificate awarded upon completion of the secondary education.
