 AUSTRIA

Finding a job

EU students have the right to work just like the Austrian students, but all other students who need a visa to study in Austria, are not allowed to work. However it is possible to find small jobs like a language tutor or baby-sitting, but you cannot count on this salary to cover your fees (especially since you must have a financial source of at least 7,000 ATS per month to apply for a residency permit).

For the students that are allowed to work, it is not very easy to find a job. One can go to the "Arbeitsmarketservice", which is the job centre.

For students in the Fachhochschule, where the teaching is focused on practical and professional training, one must complete an internship for a certain amount of time in the area of your studies. The school can help you in your search and offer some contacts.
