A visa is required to enter Belgium, except for members of the European Union and the following countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, and Sweden, etc. Residency must be registered with the appropriate community administration.

Tourist Visa: Visa Schengen (type C)
Duration of stay: less than 90 days
Limitation: does not give the right to work
Time needed to obtain: up to 3 months.
The type D Schengen visas concern stays of longer than 3 months

Student Visa
Duration of stay: more than 3 months
Documents needed: Letter of admission from a university, proof of financial solvability; certificate of good conduct and character
Limitations: work permit
Time needed to obtain: up to 3 months.

Work Visa
Duration of stay: more than 3 months
Documents needed: certificate of good conduct and character; work permit

Time needed to obtain: up to 3 months.
