Visa information

For student and trainee visas, it is required to have : a guarantee of accommodation and an acceptance of guardianship by a person living in Brazil which must be done by a notary, or a proof of bank solvency of a sum equivalent to US$ 500 per month, on an account opened (or to be opened) in Brazil, for the duration of the stay.

Temporary visa IV (student)
Documents to be presented :
- Passport with a validity of more than 6 months
- 2 application forms duly filled and signed by the applicant
- 2 identity photographs
- Proof that one is already registered with a Brazilian educational establishment or a letter of acceptance by a university, the duration of the courses, and a signature of the responsible of the establishment which has been legalised by a Brazilian authority ;
- A recent Police Record (less than 3 months old)
- Certificate of a grant which states the amount to be received, as well as the duration of the grant, or for people who have not been awarded a grant, proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay.
Cost of visa : US $54 in cash (US $67.50 through a travel agency)
This visa cannot be applied for by post.

Temporary Visa I :
(For stays longer than 90 days, for example student trainee)
Documents to be presented :
- An agreement of the agreed internship signed by the university, the laboratory or the Brazilian company. This agreement must include : the name of the applicant, the duration of the internship, statement declaring that the trainee will not be receiving any payment coming from Brazil (with the exception of possible financial aid for accommodation, food or transportation), mention that the trainee will not get an employment contract in Brazil, with a Brazilian company.
- Certificate stating the guardianship by the university, the laboratory or the Brazilian company or a certificate of a grant which states the amount to be received, as well as the duration of the grant, or for people who have not been awarded a grant, proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay, for example :
- Police Record of less than 3 months ;
- Passport with a validity of more than 6 months ;
- 2 application forms duly completed and signed by the applicant ;
- 2 identity photographs ;
Cost of visa : US $81 in cash or US$ 94.50 through a travel agency.
The visa cannot be applied for by post.

Temporary visa V :
The concession of the Temporary Visa V can be authorised for people that are travelling to Brazil for technical assistance (even without an employment contract), such as persons serving in the co-operation of the National Service, internships, and professionals with an employment contract.
The documents to be presented :
- Passport with a validity of more than 6 months ;
- 2 application forms duly completed and signed by the applicant 
- 2 identity photographs 
- Police Record of less than 3 months 
Cost of visa : US $135 in cash per person, or US $150 through a travel agency.
The working visas are under the authorisation of the Ministry of Labour of Brazil (MTE). The application must be made directly by the Brazilian company, to the Ministry mentioned.
The visa cannot be applied for by post.
