The " Bolsas de Estudo " are grants that are offered by the government of Brazil : www.rree.go.cr/becas-brasil.html

Brazil - CNPq grants (National Council of Scientific and Technological Development) There are 2 principle models of grants that permit foreign researchers-teachers to have internship of short and medium duration in a Brazilian university laboratory that exist within the CNPq.

1. Scholarship for visiting researcher.
The following conditions must be fulfilled by the applicant : have a doctorate or equivalent, only intend to work for the institution that is accepting him/her and to move to Brazil for the length of the grant.
The following conditions must be fulfilled by the institution : have the necessary infrastructure in order to realise the working schedule of the applicant and evaluate the foreign expert.
Allowance : in addition to the grant, a two-way plane ticket and help for relocation for the length of 6 months are granted.

2. Regional scientific development grants (12 months, extendible to 36 months)
Objective : support research or research-teaching projects in institutions within the regions that do not have or not many researchers in order to strengthen the already existing groups.
The following conditions must be fulfilled by the applicant : have a doctorate or at least be in the 3rd level of a doctorate, work full time in the institution that offers the intended program, to be in the search for a job.
The following conditions must be fulfilled by the institution : to be situated in the North, North-East and Center-West of Brazil (with the exception of the federal district), have existing stabilised research groups and that are adaptable to the profile of the applicant, guarantee the applicant the access to the existing infrastructure and with the intention to do the most to keep the applicant for the entire length of the grant.
Allowance : in addition to the grant, a one-way ticket only, and financial aid for relocation equivalent to one month are to be expected.
