The legal length of work is 48 hours per week. The salaries are low. The minimum monthly salary in Brazil is the lowest in the whole of South America.

Minimum salary for a manual labourer : 136 réals/month ; that of a manager/chief is 10,000 réals/month.

The principal industries in Brazil : textiles, chemicals, exploitation of minerals, aeronautic, automobile industry, and agriculture production (coffee, sugar, etc.)
