 CHINA

Health information

Be careful, if you are used to Western health standards, you will be very surprised. Some advice to follow:

- If you are seriously ill, it is recommended to leave China and to seek medical attention in a country that has a better infrastructure (hence it is strongly advised to subscribe to a repatriating insurance).

- For small everyday sicknesses, the traditional Chinese medicine is very impressive. One can find traditional practitioners everywhere, and their services are paid for in cash.

- If you regularly need a particular medicine, bring enough with you since you will not be able to get the same or a similar product.

- Do not drink tap water. Even in the big cities it is better to drink water that has been boiled or mineral water that has been properly labeled.

- Throughout China everybody has a kettle in which they make tea and boil water to drink. Also when you buy something to eat in the road, just try and assure yourself that what you buy has been cooked properly. If you follow the rule of "cook it, boil it, and peel it" there will be no reason for you to get sick.
