Visa requirements
Visas can be requested in Colombian consulates
worldwide.
It is important to note that you cannot change a tourist
visa to another status while in Colombia.
Also note that you cannot work with a tourist visa.
A temporary visa for a student costs $40/€43 and a
temporary working visa costs $205.
The student visa can have two statuses:
- Regular student
- Exchange student
The student visa is a multiple one; it is valid for one
year and is renewable.
Documents required:
- Valid passport
-2 identity photographs
-Written proof of financial resources ($430/€460)
In case of a scholarship, documents that prove its validity
When the student is a regular one:
- An enrollment proof
- A proof of the inscription of the university in the education
ministry
- All documents must be translated into Spanish and notarized.
Duration to get the visa: the same day
When the student is part of an exchange program (agreements
with other universities and internships):
The student must show that the internship is in accordance
with his/her career and that the education ministry accredits
the university in Colombia. The student must also demonstrate
that the program he/she is attending in the country of origin
requires an internship.
Tourist visa:
To go to Colombia, a valid passport and a round trip
ticket are required. Tourist visas are required for citizens
of certain countries; a list of these countries is available
at the following Web address: http://www.colombiaemb.org/English/Consulates/visatourist.html
Documents:
- 2 color-identity photographs (4x5 cm)
- Valid passport and copies of the used pages
- Residence card or visa
- Invitation letter and/or copy of the flight and hotel
reservations
- Form
Academic working visa:
Documents:
- A certified copy of the inter-institutional agreement
- Written proof of financial resources
- A letter of responsibility for expenses for return to
country of origin
- An certificate of existence of the institution
- Guarantee with the DAS
Duration: 1 year.
