Degrees/diplomas
A secondary education diploma is required for access to higher
education. In order to simplify the equivalencies at the international
level, the organization of courses and diplomas are today a mixture
of the former Danish system and the Anglo-American system.
Bachelorgraden
Bachelorgraden of Art (BA) for social sciences, economics and
law and the Bachelorgraden of Sciences (BSc) for the sciences.
These first cycle diplomas are awarded after three years of studies.
Kandidateksamen
This second cycle diploma is awarded after four to six years
of studying depending on the specialties: four years in agronomy,
five years in humanities, law, medicine, and pharmacy, six years
in sciences.
Licenciatgrad
This is awarded after the kandidateksamen, after two years of
studies and a written thesis.
Doctorgrad
This is the highest level of university studies and is awarded
after a minimum of three years of individual research.
There is also a Magistergrad which requires six years
of work. This course runs in parallel to the university degrees
and leads exclusively to research activities.
Acceptance conditions vary in relation to the diploma and the
university chosen.
In certain subjects places are limited (there is a placement
of a numerous clausus), and the selection process is very important.
In the majority of cases, the average examination results must
be higher than 12/20. Certain education programs organize entrance
examinations. Get the necessary information from the university
you are interested in.
