Visa requirements

Citizens of the European Union wishing to stay for more than three months in Denmark must apply for a residence permit at the local prefecture (Statsamtet) in the three months following their arrival into the country.

Citizens of the following countries can enter Denmark without a visa:

  • European Union countries
  • United States, Andorra, Argentina, Bermuda, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Republic of South Korea, Ecuador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, the Holy See, El Salvador, San Marino, Singapore, Czech Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Citizens of all other countries must have an entrance visa.

"Tourist" Visa
Duration: less than 90 days
Conditions: do not have the right to work
Visa fee: 230 DKK

"Student" Visa
Duration: more than three months
Documents to supply: passport, academic or admissions certificate, copies of diplomas, financial guarantee of a minimum of 6,803 DKK per month (914 Euro, US $796), health insurance.
Conditions: working permit
Visa fee: 230 DKK
Time required to issue visa: start the process two to five months before your departure.
