Health information

In every university there are trained nurses to provide first-aid. Contact MPU (Médecine Préventive Universitaire). The health system is very efficient in France. Consultation charges with general physicians are totally reimbursed by social security, and a major part of the cost of medicine is refunded as well. Ask for "tiers payant" from the pharmacist and this will allow you to receive prescribed medicines free of cost.
However, the consultations with specialists are only partially reimbursed. For 100% reimbursements the student health insurance will have to cover charges that are not reimbursed by social security. So when you select a health insurance make sure to read the fine print to know exactly what kind of coverage your health insurance will provide you.
