Finding accomodation

Most universities require students to stay in university hostels. A single room with meals usually costs approximately US $500 per year. The hostel amenities are basic. Universities can help students find suitable accommodation.
In tourist restaurants and hotels where service charges are included, 10% of the bill usually applies. In smaller places a few rupees is sufficient. Hotel porters expect a minimum of Rs.10.00.
In bazaars and markets specially geared towards tourists, bargaining is the norm. The general rule is to offer half the asking price and paying three-quarters of the original asking price.
