Admissions requirements
The admission requirements in all institutions
are :
-
Must have the Bagrut (Israeli Matriculation Certificate)
or an equivalent qualification (High School or Secondary School
Leaving Certificate) obtained at the end of 12 years of formal
education.
-
Must pass the Psychometric Entrance Examination, required
in all the institutions. Its a battery of tests that
measure scholastic abilities and deals with verbal reasoning,
quantitative reasoning and English.
-
Must pass a Hebrew language test (Hebrew Proficiency Examination).
Other specific conditions may be required depending
on each institution.
Equivalence
The Israeli universities are solely responsible for the examination
and the approval of student applications.
Therefore, the equivalence application procedure should start
at the university that the student wants to attend; more specifically,
at the Admissions Office of the Department for Overseas Students.
Languages
Overseas students with a good knowledge of Hebrew may apply
directly for regular degree studies in the universities, the same
way as Israeli students, provided they pass the Hebrew language
test : Hebrew Proficiency Examination.
The students who are not fluent in Hebrew are required to enroll
in an intensive language course of 400 hours called ULPAN,
and offered in all institutions.
Some universities require from the students to
take an English test, generally the TOEFL.
