 ITALY

Organization

There are around 45 public universities (Universita), 3 Politecnici (engineering schools) in Bari, Milan and Siena. There are 2 universities for foreigners, 9 private universities (catholic universities), 7 Istituti Universitari and 3 university schools.
All the universities are multidisciplinary, although this does not imply that they offer a large selection of complete programs.
There is no selection process in order to be accepted into university: a secondary education diploma is sufficient.
All the universities accept foreign students to register with them.
Some university faculties may require an entrance exam, with "numerus clausus" for certain courses.
