Teaching methods

The overcrowding situation makes teaching conditions very difficult. An extreme case for example is at the University La Sapienza in Rome, it has 180,000 students!
The consequence: the lecture theatres are crammed, and it is not easy to approach the professors.
Courses are conference style. The teaching is very theoretical. Internships are not very common and depend on the students to take the initiative.
There are few hours of classes.
Exams are held at the end of the year, and re-takes are in September.
