Finding scholarships

Scholarships awarded by the Italian government:
Scholarships for studies and research are offered by the Italian government to foreign students who want to learn in Italy, if the latter are provided for by Executive Protocol. A scholarship can be granted if the applicant is attending post-graduate courses for more than 12 months (excluding the following specializations, the area of medecine, refresher courses, masters and doctorates) and courses called "singoli" (monograph or generic) for 2 to 8 months.
Scholarships that do not have a time limit, are equally granted for applicants who want to carry out research or to continue studies in Italy for 2 months, and courses on Italian language and culture.
The scholarships are about 1,500,000 lira per month (US$ 600 = 960 Euros)
The study cholarships are granted to the following disciplines: language, Italian literature and linguistics, art, science, economics and management, restoration and conservation of monuments.
Foreign applicants need to prove that they have a secondary education diploma and have a good knowledge of the Italian language. For post-university studies, the scholarship applicants must have a master's and also have a good knowledge of the Italian language. These requirements are not for scholarship for language courses, and as for research scholarships the director of research must certify that they are able to tutor the student in another language.
The documents necessary to apply for a scholarship: the application form, the declaration of the applicant stating that they will not be receiving other scholarships at the same time, two references from academic authorities from their country, medical certificate stating that the applicant is in a good physical condition and a copy of the education certificates that are translated and legalized with a declaration of their merit in their country.
Foreign citizens also have the right to be granted scholarhips if they want to become specialists in Italy. These scholarships can be granted by the follwing: Consiglio Nazionale delle Richerche (Cnr), the Istituto Superiore de Sanità (ISS), the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (Infn), the Ente per le nuove tecnologie, l'energia e l'ambiente (ENEA), the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (Asi), the Istituto nazionale per le Fisica della Materia (Infm) or by other public and private institutions like the Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei, the Collegio Europeo di Parma and the Fondazione Benetton.
