Reputable schools /universities

Mainly three universities in Lebanon enjoy a very high educational standards and are recognized worldwide. These most reputed and much frequented universities are:

The American University of Beirut (AUB)
Founded in 1866, it is incorporated under the laws of the state of New York. It comprises 5 faculties : arts and sciences, medical sciences, health sciences engineering and architecture, agriculture and nutrition. English is the language of instruction.
Student enrolment : 6000 from which a large number of foreign full-time or visiting students who come from 60 different countries.

Université Saint-Joseph (USJ)
Founded in 1881, it’s a Catholic university and has strong ties with the Université de Lyon in France. It comprises several faculties and institutes : medicine, religious sciences, pharmacy, dentistry, law and political sciences, engineering, business administration, literature and humanities, nursing, education, languages and translation. French is the primary language of instruction, although some courses are offered in English and Arabic.

The Lebanese University (UL)
Founded in 1951, it’s an autonomous university, financed and administered by the State and under the control of the Ministry of Education. It comprises 17 faculties and institutes : fine arts, sciences, law and political sciences, literature and humanities, education, journalism, business and economics, engineering, agriculture, medicine, public health, social sciences.Arabic is the primary language of instruction, although some courses are provided in English and French. It has more than 40 agreements with higher international institutions.
Student enrolment : 52 000 which represents 60% of the total higher education students enrolment in the country. 85% of the Lebanese University’s enrolled students come from the Arab countries.

They have a good educational standards and some of them have developed co-operation and exchange programs with foreign universities.
