 MEXICO

Tuition and fees

Costs vary a great deal, depending on the program and school. Universities indicate their fees on their Web sites. For a list of schools with links, see www.edumexico.org
The cost of Spanish language courses also varies according to the institution, the duration and intensity of the course. Prices range from 160 to 2000 pesos (1500 us $/1350 Euro to 18 700 us $/16800 Euro).
For example, the Escuela Internacional http://www.escualai.com/ has a registration fee of $120, plus 35 pesos for textbooks per level. A one-week individual course with 20 lessons costs an additional $300; regular courses with 20 lessons per week cost an additional $250 for 2 weeks, $375 for 3 weeks, $500 for 4 weeks; intensive courses with 30 lessons per week cost $320 for 2 weeks, $480 for 3 weeks, $640 for 4 weeks, and $160 per week for courses lasting longer than 4 weeks.
Remember that in Mexico, higher education is reserved for an elite few, since 40% of the population never finish secondary education. The Mexican government is making efforts to change this, but it has a way to go.
