Admissions for foreigners

Required documents:
- Birth certificate
- Secondary school certificate or diploma
- Certification of high school (or bac) diploma
- Transcript of grades
- Medical certificate
- Legal history (police record)
- Proof of financial means
- Curriculum vitæ
These documents must be translated into Spanish by an official translator.

Foreign students must also:
- pass an exam demonstrating a mastery of Spanish
- pass an entrance exam, which is usually a multiple-choice aptitude test. Admission is based on test results and the number of available places.

Students who have already begun universities studies and wish to transfer to a Mexican university must provide a transcript of degrees, credits and grades already earned.
Students wishing to pursue research projects or specialized doctoral studies must provide the same information.

An Example: For registration in "UNICO" at the University of Guadalajara, the documents needed are:
- Birth certificate (original and three copies of both sides)
- High school (or bac) diploma (original and three certified copies)
- Attestation of "Preparatoria" (original and three certified copies)
- 10 black and white photographs (males must be in a tie, shaven, and with short hair)
- Autobiography (two pages minimum, including family background and academic, athletic and extra-curricular activities)
