 NETHERLANDS

Travelling information

Air travel
Most international carriers serve the Netherlands, beginning of course with KLM, the Dutch national airline. Schiphol International Airport is connected by rail to central Amsterdam.

Train
This mode of transportation has a reputation for great efficiency. An extensive network gives access to the most remote areas of the country.
You can avail yourself of many good package deals:
Euro DOmino for tickets on the Dutch Rail in the Netherlands
Railrover § Links very good deal since it includes unrestricted travel on Dutch trains and other means of public transportation throughout the Netherlands
Benelux Tourrail: good for discovering the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg at reduced price
Eurail Pass: valid in 17 European countries

Public transportation in cities
You will find a very well organized system of tramways and buses in all the cities.
Hours: from 6 a.m. to midnight (night buses available in the large cities)
Car: If the train is the ideal way to travel between cities, renting a car can be fun for "playing hookey" and discovering the charming little roads in the countryside. The highway system is excellent and has no toll roads.
And don't forget, of course...the bicycle!!!
