 PORTUGAL

Travel information

Means of transportation in Portugal are very good and there is a wide variety of choices for all types of budgets: plane, bus, trains and ships.
Portugal has amazing and stunning beaches on the island of Madeira.
Other interesting sites are Lisbon, Porto and the medieval city of Coimbra. There are also cruises along the Douro River.
While traveling, it is better not to have a lot of cash or your identity documents, in case of robbery. Be careful in parking lots since car break-ins have been reported.
Many airlines go to Portugal including Iberia, Air France, and British Airways. The national airline is called TAP and there is also Portugalia. The Azores have their own airlines, SATA and Air Açores.
To get to the island of Madeira, the best option is by plane, but adventure-lovers might prefer to go by ship. Finally, there is a good railway system that connects Lisbon with tourist centers such as Cascais and Sintra.
There are Portuguese Tourism Offices in many countries and there are different guides available either on the Internet or in book shops.
