 SOUTH AFRICA

Local information

South Africa, referred to as the "Rainbow Nation" by the Nobel peace prize winner Desmond Tutu, is an extraordinary mix of people and races from all over the world; there are 20 ethnic groups, 4 races, 11 official languages, and half a dozen religions.
This multiracial mosaic endows this country with a unique character, nevertheless marked by enormous dichotomies. Sophisticated infrastructures, swanky neighborhoods and high purchase power in certain areas contrast with extreme poverty and utter destitution in other areas.

Weather and Seasons
The climate in South Africa is moderate, due to its position south of the Tropic of Capricorn and the surrounding oceans. It’s a dry and sunny place.

Distances
South Africa is a huge territory spread over 1.2 million km_. The transportation network is not very modern, but there are buses and trains that serve big cities.
