Main schools and universities

Spain has 49 public universities, 11 private and 6 catholic universities. Many of the public universities are very old and some are well known for certain strong areas of study, such as the University of Salamanca for social sciences and languages, the University of Granada, the Deusto University for law, the European Studies Center in Madrid for European studies, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Polytechnic University of Cataluña both for engineering, the IESE and the ICADE both for commerce, and the University of Barcelona.
