Organization
Swedish higher education is internationally recognized.
Training programs are offered by two types of institutions: Universities
and other establishments of higher education.
There exist about 50 higher education establishments, most of
them are managed by the State, some are managed by the provinces
and few by the private sector.
The government establishes objectives and directives for universities
and other higher education establishments and delegate decisions
concerning the contents of the teaching to the establishments.
Higher education is divided between basic education (at least
3 years of studies) and third cycle education. The basic education
can be either general or professional.
