Teaching methods
Instruction
combines formal courses and practical work. Students are
closely supervised, and are evaluated by exams at the end
of the semester and the end of the year.
The work load varies according to the track: in the sciences,
the freshman year is pretty heavy with 30 hours of courses
weekly, 28 in the second year, and 14 in the third. In the
humanities, the course load is not as heavy, with 15 to
25 hours weekly, but the additional library work required
is extensive.
Facilities are generally quite good, with well-equipped
laboratories and extensive departmental libraries.
