Climate and season: The climate is subtropical humid.
The temperatures vary from 12° to 24° C in the winter
and 26° to 38° C in the summer. The temperatures decrease
with altitude for example Mount Yu Shan has a summit of more than
3,952 meters. It is during the spring and summer that the rain
fall is the highest. The spring monsoon is followed by dangerous
summer typhoons.
Summer starts in June and finishes in September.
Winter starts in December and finishes in March.
Distances: The distances are short, the island being fairly
small: 380 km on a North-South axis and its width is an average
of 150 km.
