 TURKEY

Programmes designed for foreigners

There is a "numerus clauses" for foreign students in all fields of study. The relevant authority is the ÖSYM. The Council for Higher Education (www.yok.gov.tr) is the student selection and placement center under the responsibility of the YÖK.
The overseas student’s first step is to contact the Registrar’s Office of the university he/she wants to attend, where he/she can get all the application procedure information and the specific admission requirements.
Fore more details, a list of the Turkish universities can be browsed on the Turkish official website: www.yok.gov.tr.
Some universities have an "International Center" which provides assistance and guidance (adjustment to their new environment, orientation programs, tours and activities) to overseas students.
Foreign students must hold a visa to enter the country and then apply for a residence permit; to attain the permit they must provide financial guarantees.
