Medical visit
A medical certificate is required (radiology of the thorax, VDRL, pulmonary radioscopy, blood tests - reaction for Kahn or Wasserman - and a good general health) for those applying for a student visa, a visiting visa or a working visa.
For more information contact each university, some universities already have health insurance included in the tuition fees.

Vaccinations
The are no obligatory vaccinations. However it is advised to be up-to-date (tetanus, polio), and for those who plan on travelling in the Amazonian regions, it is advised to be vaccinated against yellow fever and to take precautionary measures for malaria. For long stays a vaccination against rabies is recommended. Other risks: cholera, dengue fever, and hepatitis.
